Music video distribution
Link the artist's YouTube channel to Universal Sound Group and we distribute and manage their videos through the label.
Your artists' channels, managed by the label
Each artist keeps their own YouTube channel. Once it is linked to Universal Sound Group, we upload, schedule and optimize their videos from one dashboard, and apply Content ID protection to the music.
- Upload videos as private, unlisted, public or scheduled
- Titles, descriptions, tags and hashtags built from the song details
- Thumbnails, playlists, bulk edits and a release calendar
- Analytics, comments and network view across every linked channel
Provided to YouTube by Universal Sound Group
Audio uploads carry the line "Provided to YouTube by Universal Sound Group" in the description. It is fixed by the label and cannot be edited by artists, so every release is clearly attributed.
How channel linking works
- The artist signs in and shares their channel link.
- We request the channel link to the label from YouTube.
- Once approved, videos and Content ID are managed together.
YouTube controls channel approval, so timing depends on them.
Good to know.
Can you distribute music videos?
Yes. Link the artist's YouTube channel to Universal Sound Group and we distribute and manage the videos through the label, with scheduling, privacy, descriptions, tags, thumbnails and analytics in one dashboard.
What is YouTube Content ID and how do I stop my own channels being claimed?
Content ID finds videos that use your recording and lets you earn the ad revenue, track the views or block the video. Add the artist channels and any partner channels to the allowlist so they are never claimed.
What is a YouTube Topic channel and an Official Artist Channel?
When your music reaches YouTube Music, YouTube creates an "Artist - Topic" channel for it. An Official Artist Channel merges that Topic channel with the artist's own channel. We prepare and submit the request. YouTube makes the final decision.
